The Sacha Sangha Mandala

Created by ShantiMayi and her husband, Indro, the Mandala has many intricate meanings. Some of these symbolic meanings are described below.

The ring is of light.
This ring speaks of wholeness. (*1)You are always whole, you are always complete. In the universe nothing is missing and nothing can be added. This ring of light is eternally expanding, eternally contracting. In the macrocosms and the microcosms revealing the secret of the boundless.

The Star of David
The star of David means the Beloved. It is composed of six triangles, symbolizing male and female, heaven and earth, spirit and matter. Always in perfect harmony. Never disturbed. Impossible to separate. Producing the experience of life. This pattern of the star of David (*2) is in every single being. Repeated in every particle and sub-particle and waveacle. Endlessly throughout the universe, encircled by the ring of wholeness. Within every female is a male. Within every male is a female. This is one square in the matrix of life.

The crown of hearts
The crown of hearts is in the center of the star. Twelve hearts, one fore every month. A full cycle of life. As the heart mature, it goes through all of the seasons. In every energy there is a core, a heart. The heart of the ocean is the waves beating the shore. The heart of the flame is its fire, its brilliance. There is a center in a tree called hartwood and the heart of a mature human is a golden beggar's bowl, unconditional and receptive to the cycles of life. To the way of the heart. Pure and simple.

The diamond
The diamond symbolizes cosmic expression. This diamond exists in you all of the time. In every single being. In a blade of grass dwells the dazzling diamond. This gem is made of worthless dust, one element carbon. Over 10,000 years, 10,000 times dust through a pressure and transforms into a crystal clear diamond. (*3)The center of the diamond is never affected by the reflections of life upon the facets at its surface. Nothing can obscure the diamond's clarity, its unbreakable beauty. The diamond is the philosopher's stone. The diamond is the work. The diamond is the basemetal turned into gold. The pearl held in the talons of the dragon. All beings meet in this essential symbol, the diamond.

The bindu
The seed of the universe is a point in consciousness, eternally everywhere, always at once. The center of the mandala. This tiny seed is the spark between man and woman, as well as the last breath of life. It contains the mandala eternally unfolding in infinite realms. The whole universe is blossoming forth from this tiny seed of appearance and possibility. The whole universe apparently dissolves again into this tiny, undetectable seed. "This" is the breath of God.
