Terre de Sacha, Land of Truth, is located in the Southeast of the French Pyrenees. It was founded by ShantiMayi on Gurupurnima day in 1996. The ashram sits on eighty-two pristine acres of land amidst stunning mountain vistas. People from all over the world have gathered here in the Summer months to be a part of this experiment in living in ecological harmony (using only biodegradable products, and growing our own organic foods), and working towards the spiritual transformation of all beings. It is a rare privilege to be able to live in a community with an enlightened Master. The entire atmosphere supports going within and abiding in our inner silence and peace. This is reflected in the outer environment in the way we serve selflessly, working to maintain the ashram doing whatever is needed with respect and loving attention.

Satsangs are held throughout the season and are open to everyone, and also operate purely on a donation basis. Terre de Sacha is a beautiful place, which needs attention all year round. There are many ways of contributing your time energy or financial support, if you wish to do so. Perhaps you are a handy man/woman and would like to offer your skills. Or perhaps you would like to spend some time care-taking in the fall, winter or spring. A new rotation schedule has started for this year. We want to organize the year ahead so if you would like to spend time in Terre de Sacha in the autumn to spring months, please contact us with the time schedule that you have in mind. ShantiMayi's Ashram in the French Pyrenees is 30 hectares of wild and beautiful chestnut woods, rocks and streams in the foothills of the Canigou. We'll be there in April, May, June and also in the Autumn, making improvements to the land and to our 300 year old stone buildings. |

The time we spend in Terre de Sacha is so precious. The wilderness is pristine and unspoiled here in the Pyrenees. The forests are actually natural forests, the trees are not planted in rows, they grow in fractal geometry. The air is wonderfully fresh here, the forests are so thick and the wind is a frequent visitor.
We can only house a small amount of people here now. Our accommodation is limited, but that seems to work out to our advantage because ShantiMayi feels that Terre de Sacha will naturally be a place for Intensives. Mostly for the students who are pointing straight into totality, in the most profound sense. The Intensives in TdS are not pre-announced this year. The students arrive and then they know what the Intensive is for that week.
The weather is very fine here this year. Not hot, sometimes a bit cool. Good for short sleeves and long sleeves too. Just enough rain for the garden and just enough wind to stir the leaves and freshen the air. The Garden is about a half acre in size this year, less than one third the usual garden that we have here in TdS. And yes, this year it is small but it is really beautiful.
The house is a constant project. Five years ago ShantiMayi said that TdS will be a twenty year project (until then, we can not rest). This year she says that TdS is a twenty year project (until then, we can not rest). Actually, we have accomplished so much on the renovation of the house and barns. It is such a big place (80 acres) and it is a lot to maintain, but it is always in order in some miraculous way. The buildings here are dated from 600 years to 300 years old. Here, there are dedicated, selfless people who give so much of their life to see that this place is a wonderful possibility for all. A place that all may come and be with our Master and to be in the wilderness,in the silence. Also it
is possible for everyone who comes to contribute something of themselves to this place. In this way this ashram gets polished as we get polished. It is wonderful, yes it is a wonderful place.GURU PURNIMA
Guru Purnima falls on the full moon in July each year. Muktananda once said that God offered the finest moon to the Guru for the remembrance of of the Master and the disciple's devotion to realization.
We raise the flag of the ashram on this day. We have adopted the rainbow as our flag. Ashrams all over the world celebrate Guru Purnima. We celebrate Guru Purnima with ShantiMayi, it is a great joy to be with her on this day. She ties a red or silver thread on our left wrist. When she ties the thread on our wrist, we make a wish for the year and the thread is left on until it falls off by itself. The thread is a reminder of the grace that fills our life. And also, what a wonderful privilege it is to live a life dedicated to enlightenment (for all). We also have a feast and dance and sing and drink in the satsangh. The day is full of celebration.
